Having graduated in 1982 from the University of Perugia with a vote of 110/110 cum laude; from 1983 to 1986 he served as the Official Veterinarian at the Carabinieri Mounted Regiment of Rome.

In 1985 he had his first brief experience in the United States, namely in Florida at the Pompano Beach racecourse for trotters, where he was hosted by two well-established colleagues.

Since about 1986 he began working as a freelancer at the Rome Trotting Racecourse and over the following years has worked for the best stables of the region.

In 1985 together with a colleague he founded a veterinary hospital for horses where he began practicing surgery.

In 1987, after having had his first experiences in the use of arthroscopy, he enhanced his professional experience at the Equine Hospital of Solvalla in Stockholm, where Prof. G. Nilsson had already been operating for some time in arthroscopy and Dr. C. Ruelker dealt mostly with the clinical aspects.

In 1990 he attended the “Advanced Equine Arthroscopy Surgery Course” at the Colorado State University, where he also attended the “Diagnosis, Medical and Surgical Management of the Acute Abdomen in the Horse Course” in 1992.

In 1991 and 1994 he extended his professional experience in the Department of Equine Surgery at the Ohio State University.

In 1994 he attended the “Advanced Equine Veterinary Course” of the International Society of Osteosynthesis (AO-ASIF) in Davos – Switzerland.

During his professional career he has performed predominantly surgical and clinical work on performance racing horses, both trotters and gallopers.

Since 1997, he has been carrying out mainly clinical and surgical activities at the hospital for horses “Equine Practice Ltd” in Campagnano of Rome, where he is the Medical Director. He has been the president of the SIVE (Italian Society for Equine Vets) from 2001 to 2003.

He has also been holding the position of an adjunct professor at the University of Teramo at the School of Medicine and Surgery for the Horses.

From 2008 to 2011 he has been a board member of WEVA (World Equine Veterinary Association).

DR. VALERIO SERATA

After graduating in Perugia in 1981 he acquired his first professional experience at the Military Riding School of Montelibretti. In 1984-1985 he attended the course in Veterinary Gynecology and Artificial Insemination at the University of Bologna. In the same year together with Dr. F. Canonici he founded a health facility for the treatment and surgery of performance horses, which is still in full swing. In 1990 he attended the course of Advanced Equine Arthroscopy Surgery at the University of Fort Collins, Colorado and in 1992 in the same University participated in the course of Diagnosis, Medical and Surgical Management of the Acute Abdomen in the Horse.

In 1991 and 1994 at the University of Fort Collins (CO) and in that of Columbus (OH) he practiced as a guest veterinarian in the field of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, and in 1993 participated in the AO Basic Course of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Horse. Currently he works as a surgeon at the hospital for horses Equine Practice Ltd. Campagnano of Rome, specializing in particular in the abdominal surgery.

Alessandro Buldini, born in Rome on 31/12/1961, graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1986 at the University of Perugia, with a thesis titled “Equine Cryptorchidism: Pathogenesis, Diagnosis and Treatment.”
Registered in the Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons of Rome since 1988, n ° 721.
Since 1988 he has been practicing as a freelance horse veterinarian in all fields, with a special focus on anesthesiology and primarily in trotter horse pathologies.
Since 1990 he has been collaborating with his veterinarian colleagues Dr. F. Canons and Dr. V. Serata as part of the equine surgery team, in the position of an anesthesiologist.
The same team in 1994 founded the veterinary hospital Equine Practice in Campagnano in Rome, where he continues to practice till date. The hospital admits horses coming from Central and South Italy, offering clinical, diagnostic and surgical assistance, with a special focus on arthroscopic and abdominal surgeries and emergency surgeries in general.
In 1991 he was a guest veterinarian at the Veterinary Hospital of the Ohio State University, Columbus.
In 1992 he attended the course “Diagnosis, Medical and Surgical Management of the Acute Abdomen in the Horse” at the University of Fort Collins, Colorado.
He subsequently remained there for a period of time to enhance his experience in the field of equine anesthesia.
In 2008 he attended the course “Equine Ophthalmology” in Orlando, Florida.
